<Lotus root & chicken ball Bento>

■Lotus root & chicken ball
100 g lotus root
80 g ground chicken
10 cm Japanese leek
20 g Hanpen/fluffy boiled fish cake
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 tablespoon cornstarch
Salt & pepper

Sauce : 2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon Japanese sake
1 tablespoon Mirin/sweetening made of Japanese sake

1. Peel the skin of lotus root.
2. Chop 1 & the Japanese leek finely.
3. Put 1 & ground chicken in a bowl. Add Hanpen while tearing into pieces. Add ginger, cornstarch, salt & pepper, and combine well till the mixture becomes pasty.
4. Apply oil (not mentioned in the ingredients) on hands, and round 3 into bite size balls.
5. Cook 4 in an oiled frying pan, cover with the lid.
6. Wipe off the excess fat on the frying pan if there is any. Swirl the sauce & combine.

1. レンコンは皮を剥く
2. 1とネギをみじん切りにする
3. ボウルに2、鶏ひき肉、はんぺんをちぎりながら入れ、生姜、片栗粉、塩コショウを入れ粘りが出るまで混ぜる
4. 手に油(分量外)を塗り、3を食べやすい大きさに丸める
5. 油の入ったフライパンに4を入れ、蓋をして焼く
6, 脂が溶け出ていたら脂を拭き取り、タレを回しかけタレを絡める
